Summer Herb Walk
It’s been a while since I wrote a Blog - the Summer months seem to have flown by!
Oxleas Herbal Apothecary has been busy. I have seen lots of lovely patients and helped them on their health journey. Each patients health journey is individual to them based on their history and existing circumstances, so each herbal prescription I create is specific to the individual patient. No two medicines are the same because no two patients are ever the same! This is what I love about herbal medicine - working with the plants to create beautiful medicine that is bespoke to the patient I am seeing.
In addition to seeing patients, I have been out and about in my community speaking to people about the magic of plants and herbal medicine.
Herb Walk at Shrewsbury Park June 2025
Earlier in June I led a Herb Walk in Shrewsbury Park, SE18. We were lucky and had a lovely sunny morning to walk around and discuss the plants found in our local park. I spoke about the folklore surrounding some of our common plants such as Daisy’s , Elders, Hawthorn, Plantain and also their medicinal uses both traditional and modern day. The walk was fully booked and I’m hoping to lead another one again so do keep checking this page for updates/further dates.
In July gave a talk on Herbal Medicine at Shrewsbury House ‘Get Together Monday’s’. During this talk I presented on the history of Herbal Medicine, how it is practiced today, and how herbs can be used at home to support good health.
500 Years of Lesnes Abbey Wood in Southeast London
If you missed this, there is an opportunity to hear me speak at the Lesnes 500 event at Abbey Wood this coming Sunday 14th September at 1pm (see details above). I will be talking about Herbal Medicine specifically relating to how plant medicine would have been used by the Monk’s to support the community in the Medieval Period. I will be linking this to the plants still found in Lesnes Abbey Woods today and will have some samples for you to smell and touch. So hope to see you there!
